Luke Bryan Never Thought ‘American Idol’ Would Be So ‘Emotional’

Luke Bryan is back to making dreams come true as a judge on ABC's new season of American Idol. Before the show got underway, Luke talked to us about what he had learned from being on the popular show.

Bryan told us, "I think being in front of a TV camera so much makes you more aware of a lot more things. It's like a resume builder. I've got five years of sitting in front of a television camera to where you learn what works, and what doesn't. You learn how to engage with people. You learn how to not get yourself in too big of trouble, and you learn there's a fine line between doing it right and doing it wrong. Yeah, I've learned a lot from American Idol."

He added, "But then I learned you still got to go and work hard because there is a lot of talent out there in the world, and you don't ever need to take your talent for granted because so many people dream of this life."

Luke also said that the show has made him quite passionate about the contestants. "To be able to watch these kids come in from these various backgrounds and to watch their process, it's very informative, and it's very emotional. If you told me five years ago that I would get so emotional on American Idol... I didn't envision that I would be so emotionally invested in a lot of these kids. It's an emotional process; it's the way Idol tells their stories and loves on these kids."

Bryan concluded, "The heart and the soul of the show is really special. You know, we're not really there making a TV show. We're just there telling a story of kids and documenting their journeys. I think that's what makes it really unique and special."

Luke recently announced his 2023 "Country On Tour" with several opening acts, including Chayce Beckham, Ashley Cooke, and Jackson Dean, plus Tyler Braden, Jon Langston, Conner Smith, Alana Springsteen, Hailey Whitters, and DJ Rock. Bryan's 36-city "Country On Tour" kicks off on June 15 in Syracuse, New York.

Luke Bryan and his wife, Caroline, have been married for sixteen years. And as they often share on their social media accounts, the couple and their extended family are always having fun. The family is in Mexico this week as Luke plays his annual "Crash My Playa" event.
