Kimberly Perry is Ready for the Next Chapter in Her Career
Kimberly Perry is best known for her time as the lead vocalist and guitarist for the Band Perry, formed with her brothers Neil and Reid. The band released their self-titled debut album in 2010, which included the hit single “If I Die Young.” Now, Kimberly is starting over as a solo artist. She recently released “If I Die Young Part 2.”
In an interview with Andie Summers during radio row at the 58th Annual ACM Awards, she talked about how building music and life was something she never got to experience before and it makes both sides sweeter and more empowering. She said, “It’s just been an amazing, amazing experience.”
Perry has worked a lot on life over the last couple years. The Band Perry took a hiatus. She split from her first husband, former Major League Baseball player J. P. Arencibia. She has since married musician, singer/songwriter Johnmy Costello. The couple are expecting a son in August.
“His parents live here in Frisco, and I met him in Dallas. So this is like a family reunion on so many levels for me with country music this week. But also, we’re hanging out with his family. We met during October 2020 and he just walked into the room six five, like bleached blond hair. I really had to discipline myself to not tell him I loved him for the first two days. Like it was so hard to just be disciplined, you know, and be mature. But we eloped to Vegas eight months later and got married in a midnight ceremony.”
Perry is feeling secure in her own skin and is empowered for the opportunity to speak with a solo voice.
