KC Gets His First Carolina Panthers Experience at Bank of America Stadium
The dreary season continues for the Carolina Panthers, after yesterday’s painful loss to the Minnesota Vikings. With a record now at 0-4, this puts Carolina in camp with the Chicago Bears as the only winless teams this far into the 2023-2024 season.
However crushing the loss may have been, for me, it was cushioned by the fact that I got to watch the game first-hand at my very first live NFL experience! My brother surprised both my dad and myself with amazing seats, putting us close to all the action. Immediately upon arriving at Charlotte’s Bank of America Stadium, you could tell the air was electric. The banging of the drum and the excitement of the crowd as the team ran full speed out of the tunnel made for an indescribable atmosphere to kick things off.
The game started off as strong as a Carolina fan could hope for, with safety Sam Franklin pulling off an awe-inspiring 99-yard pick-six in the first five minutes of play. I could not jump out of my seat fast enough when he took off, and I had the perfect vantage point to watch him bring it home.
Unfortunately, that would be the only touchdown my home team would score for the rest of the game. Try as they might, the Panthers’ offensive line just couldn’t capture that same magic. Words can’t describe how frustrating it was watching running back Miles Sanders continually try to run it down the middle despite how ineffective it proved to be each and every play.
Thanks to our special teams executing picture-perfect field goals we were able to stay in the game until the very last minute. But once rookie quarterback Bryce Young was sacked on 4th down that was all she wrote.
Yes, a win would have been nice for my first live NFL game, but it was still an incredible time. I got to cheer on my Carolina Panthers and spend some quality time with my dad and brother. We drank, we made all kinds of noise, we heckled Vikings fans, we immediately apologized to said Vikings fans, we bowed down to Sir Purr, and we made a fun memory that will last a lifetime.
We’ll get ’em next time boys! #KeepPounding
