Garth recently told us about how his new collaboration with Ronnie Dunn, called “Rodeo Man,” came about. He explained, “We’ve become texting buddies, Ronnie and I. And a kind of friend that was the bridge of ours was Rob Hajacos. Rob Hajacos played fiddle on everything we ever did, [and] played everything that Brooks and Dunn ever did. And so, through Rob, we became buddies.”
He added, “He texted me a song called ‘Rodeo Man’ that he was working on. I texted back one word. ‘Smash.’ And then I tried to figure out some way to get my foot in the door, and he said, ‘Sure – go ahead and take a shot at it!’ And then what we ended up doing was marrying the two performances.”

Brooks and Yearwood performed at the public memorial service in Atlanta for Rosalynn Carter, who passed away on November 19 at her home in Plains, Georgia, at the age of 96.
The couple sang the John Lennon song “Imagine.” With five First Ladies and two former Presidents, including 99-year-old Jimmy Carter, watching them, Yearwood sang the song with Garth on the chorus.
After the public service, Brooks said, “What I loved the most about Miss Rosalynn’s service is that every living First Lady showed up no matter what political party, no matter what time or era. Every First Lady showed up to pay their respects.”
