Cody Johnson Untangles Christmas Lights, Answers Questions
Cody Johnson’s CMT PRESENTS: A Cody Johnson Christmas holiday special will air on CMT tonight night (12/13) at 9 PM ET. The special will feature lots of music, personal memories, and favorite traditions for Cody and his family.
On Instagram, he and CMT posted a video to promote the new special where Cody answers questions about Christmas while he untangles Christmas lights. CMT captioned the cute video post, “I feel like Clark Griswold right now – @codyjohnson.”
In the video clip, he says his least favorite Christmas song is “Grandma Got Run Over By A Reindeer.” His favorite? “Probably ‘White Christmas.'”
Johnson also shared a sweet Christmas memory from his childhood. He said, “One time I wanted a bicycle, and it was a really expensive bicycle, and I asked for it, and I never could figure out as a kid why my dad was taking all these extra jobs. He took extra overtime jobs to go get me that bike, and I’ll never forget when I got it.”
As for family traditions, Cody said they all love music. He offered, “Most of our traditions involve the piano or the guitar. My personal Christmas tradition is to watch National Lampoon’s Christmas Vacation the day after Thanksgiving.” He added, continuing to struggle with the lights, “I feel like Clark Griswold right now.”

Johnson told us recently about one special holiday memory from years ago. He said, “My wife and I got married in early December, and by the time I blinked my eye, Christmas was there, and there we were, newlyweds with hardly any money, living in a one-bedroom apartment.”
He added, “I don’t know how, but we were just so happy back then. We didn’t have anything, and somehow, we had it all. I remember that very first Christmas of us being married, and we were broke as a joke, and somehow we were just like that old Alan Jackson song ‘Livin’ On Love.’ There was something pure and happy about that.”
