Chris Young loves his dog Porter. He expresses that love in a new song he released today (1/13) called "All Dogs Go To Heaven."

In an interview earlier this week, Chris told us about his beloved canine, "I met this dog when he was basically a baked potato size animal. I love this dog; he was a Christmas present from my little sister; he was a surprise, and now he is a one hundred-pound tank of a German Shepard."

Young says of the song's meaning, "Regardless if you have a big dog, small dog, or whatever, a pet of any kind, you can kind of get the point of 'All Dogs Go To Heaven.' You know, they're probably not going to outlive us, so I think everybody doesn't want to think about that, but you know that it's going to be something that you are going to have to deal with at some point, and it's just the idea of they'll be waiting on you when you get up there."

The first verse of the new song includes the lyrics, "He's hanging out the window on every Sunday drive / He's front door standing guard, barking as the cars go by / He's always glad to see me, and sad to see me go / He's the closest thing to pure love that I've ever known."

He continues the point in the chorus, "And that's why all dogs go to Heaven / To spend forever running wild and free, off the leash / I know he'll probably go before me / Oh, and that's the day I'm dreadin' / But he'll be waiting on me at the gates / 'Cause all dogs go to Heaven."

Earlier this year, Chris had to take Porter to the vet because he was ill.

Young posted a photo of his best friend sitting on a couch and seeming sluggish. He captioned the image, "Well, @porterthedog has had me at the vet all day #dogownerproblems. Think he is gonna be ok tho #700buckslater #puppyproblems."
