Self-Love For The Singles!
Shout out to all the singles out there! Depending on your current emotional state, Valentine’s Day can be a tough holiday! It’s an entire 24-hour period of love and relationships being shoved in your face and a constant reminder of your singleness. What could be more frustrating?! This year I say we ditch the “Lonely” mentality. This could be a day we practice self-love! Here are a few ways you could take a moment for yourself:
-Cook/Bake something special! Is there a fancy dinner you’ve been itching to try? A new recipe you want to test? Maybe it’s been a while since you’ve baked yourself something sweet? Valentine’s Day falls on a Friday this year so it’s the perfect night to try something new!
–Watch a movie! Get cozy, cuddle up in your softest blanket, and rent yourself a new movie on Amazon Prime! Make it an event with fresh popcorn or a glass of wine.
-Call your friends/family/loved ones! We may not all have a significant other or be in a relationship, but that doesn’t mean we can’t love and nurture the relationships we do have. Tell your family how much you love them. Let your friends know you care and appreciate them. Even if it’s a simple text message, reach out to the important people in your life.
-Go Dancing! I say “go dancing” but this doesn’t have to mean “go out dancing”. Do what I do and dance right there in your living room or bathroom! No one’s watching (except maybe the dog…) Music speaks to your soul! Put on some dance tunes and feel your energy skyrocket!
-Write In Your Journal! I keep a Gratitude Journal on my nightstand, and every night I write at least 3 things I’m grateful for. Some days are easier than others, but this act of appreciation helps me gain perspective and clarity on what’s really important. Not feeling up to it? Then write how you feel. Getting those bottled up emotions and frustrations out on paper can help you heal.
