If you notice everyone moving with a little extra pep in their step today, that’s because it’s National Coffee Day! And to celebrate the holiday, many of your favorite coffeehouses and businesses are offering amazing deals and discounts for your caffeinated beverage.

Who doesn’t love a good hot cup of joe in the morning? If recent statistics are to be believed, not many. According to Drive Research, 3 in 4 Americans drink coffee every single day, with nearly half of coffee drinkers consuming as many as 3 to 5 cups.

Not only does coffee give you the extra boost you need to get through the day, it has many health benefits as well. Johns Hopkins Medicine lists the many positive ways coffee can impact your health here. These include a healthier liver and a decreased risk of developing Alzheimer’s and Parkinson’s disease.

I’ll admit that I’m a recent coffee convert. I’m still experimenting with different flavors and blends that I like. But with these incredible deals and discounts I’ll be able to try as many as I like for cheap! These savings were rounded up by CNET in this article, but here are the National Coffee Day deals that North Carolinians can take advantage of.

  • Caribou Coffee: Get a medium espresso shaker for just $3. Then on Oct. 1 get $1 off when purchasing any size drip coffee
  • Circle K: Get one (1) free cup of coffee when you use the Circle K app. The offer is good for any size beverage through Oct. 2
  • Dunkin’: Free iced or hot coffee for Dunkin’ Rewards members with any purchase today
  • Krispy Kreme: Get a free medium hot or iced coffee at all participating locations
  • Rise Brewing Co.: Win free coffee for a year by entering the contest on their website. Entrants will get a 20% discount at the online Rise store with code COFFEEDAY
  • Sheetz: Purchase anything on the Sheetz app between Sept. 29 and Oct. 1 and get any size nitro or cold brew coffee for free by entering offer code BREW4U on the Offerz tab.
  • Starbucks: Participating locations are hosting free coffee tastings for Starbucks Global Coffee Week
  • Wendy’s: Through Oct. 1, grab a hot or cold small coffee for $1. Choose any flavor, including the new Pumpkin Spice Frosty Cream Cold Brew, for a limited time.

If there’s one thing I love, it’s ending my day with a sweet little treat. So I’ve been on a mission to find the best cupcakes in Fayetteville, North Carolina!

I haven’t made homemade cupcakes in forever because nothing beats a decadent, perfectly flavored, professionally baked cupcake. Regular or bite-size, I will happily try them all!

Did you know that cupcakes weren’t “invented” until 1796?! Sure, people were baking cakes long before then, but according to lots of cupcake companies (including Food 52 Blog), the first appearance of the recipe for a “light cake in small cups” came from Amelia Simmons in American Cook.

“American Cookery, or, to give its full title: American Cookery, or the Art of Dressing Viands, Fish, Poultry and Vegetables, and the Best Modes of Making Pastes, Puffs, Pies, Tarts, Puddings, Custards and Preserves and All Kinds of Cakes from the Imperial Plumb to Plain Cake. The name for the cupcake didn’t really come around until sometime around 1828 in another cookbook, by a woman named Eliza Leslie.

Today, cupcakes are everywhere, and finding the best ones in Fayetteville is no easy task. But we’re happy to keep trying!
