What a great year for Country music, and it’s absolutely no surprise who is at the top of the Top Country Artists for 2022 – Morgan Wallen.
For the second year in a row, Wallen reigns as the king of country music. He had the top two songs of the year on the Hot Country Songs chart (Wasted on You, You Proof), and his Dangerous album was back on top also, logging over 80 weeks at the top.
“‘Wasted’ rocketed atop the weekly Hot Country Songs survey in January 2021 and topped the tally for 11 weeks,” Billboard said. “‘You Proof’ debuted in the penthouse in May of 2022, giving the artist his sixth leader and his fifth No. 1 start, the most of any artist. ‘You Proof’ also dominated the weekly Country Airplay chart for five frames — his longest running No. 1 among his seven chart-toppers.”
According to Billboard.com, Carrie Underwood is the format’s top female Country artist. In the duo or group category, the top honor goes to the Zac Brown Band.
And while Wallen was tops on the Hot Country Songs chart, it was NOT him on top of the Country Airplay chart. That honor went to “Take My Name” by North Carolina’s very own Parmalee. That song beat out “Thinking ‘Bout You” from Dustin Lynch, “‘Til You Can’t” from Cody Johnson and “Damn Strait” from Scotty McCreery.
But when it comes to the artists, there was no topping Morgan Wallen in 2022. So here’s a look at the full Top 10 Country Artists for 2022.
