Joseph R. Biden Jr. has been elected President of the United States, defeating President Trump, who was running to be elected to a second term. Earlier today - three days after Election Day -- Biden secured the 270 votes required from the Electoral College. After Pennsylvania's 20 electoral votes went to Biden, it gave him a total of 273 electoral votes.
On Jan. 20, 2021, Biden, the former Vice-President, will become the 46th president and the oldest man ever sworn into the office. His running mate, Kamala Harris will be the United States’ next vice president; she will be the first woman to hold the office. She will also be the nation’s first Black and South Asian vice president.
At press time, the AP, Fox News, CNN, the New York Times, the Washington Post, the New York Post and USA Today have all called the race in favor of Biden, but President Trump has yet to respond to the results.
