It seems like November 13, 2003 was just yesterday. For the Fayetteville area, it was a special date that recording star and “Grease” star Olivia Newton-John performed at the Cumberland County Crown Theatre in Fayetteville, North Carolina. If you were there, I am sure you remember that very special event. Following Olivia’s passing on August 8, that night means even more.
For many, they only know of Olivia’s fame based on the cult film “Grease.” What you may not know or have forgotten, is that her music career was incredible. In a very short period of time, she topped the Billboard Hot 100 chart five times. In addition to five number one songs, fourteen of her albums and eleven of her singles sold over 500,000 copies each. The RIAA, Recording Industry Association of America states that Olivia had global sales well over 100 million.
This weekend, select AMC Theaters will pay tribute to Olivia Newton-John by showing “Grease.”
As I close, let me ask. Did you know that Olivia Newton-John had seven of her songs that did very well on the Billboard Country music chart? Check the list below.
