Fayetteville Ranked as a Top Road Trip Destination
As people are getting back out on vacations again, Fayetteville has shown up as one of the top 18 cities that are within a one-day road trip for most of the population.
The list, written by Monica Fish for Wealth of Geeks, has Fayetteville at the number 12 spot.
“Located halfway between New York City and Miami, Florida, on Interstate 95, Fayetteville, North Carolina, is within one day’s drive for 75% of the United States population,” Fish said in the article. “Sports fans flock to the area for annual Spartan races and to enjoy the trails, lakes, tennis, and golf courses. In addition, you can sample the world’s food without a passport on their International Cuisine Trail, with Hungarian, West African, Turkish, Greek, and Italian Cuisine all within just a few blocks downtown.”
It’s not the first time Fish has highlighted our area, either. In an article earlier this year, she pointed to Hope Mills as a top vacation destination, thanks to outdoor activities, Dirtbag Ales and more.
Fayetteville was joined by a few other North Carolina road trip destination locations on the list (she’s clearly a fan of the Tar Heel state), as The Carolina Core (Greensboro, Winston-Salem, High Point) came in at 11 on the list, and Hendersonville came in at number 13.
Other spots on the list included: Leigh Valley, Pennsylvania; Richmond, Virginia; Fayetteville, West Virginia; Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania; Columbus, Ohio; Cincinnati, Ohio; Butler County, Ohio; Branson, Missouri; St. Louis, Missouri; Myrtle Beach, South Carolina; The Smoky Mountains; Chattanooga, Tennessee; Johnson City, Tennessee; Indianapolis, Indiana; and Louisville, Kentucky.
