Sarah’s Fitness Journey: A New Year, A New Sarah
The dreaded new year resolution! Oh how we love them and hate them! A new year brings with it a clean slate and hope that we can accomplish our goals. Then reality sets in and we throw in the towel by week three! This year, I’m asking you to keep me accountable!
The last time I truly felt like I was in the best shape of my life was during my last two years of college. I had been hitting the gym with a personal trainer (literally flipping tires and working out with college athletes) and felt like I was on top of the world! Then you graduate, you move, you get a “real world” job, and life just hits you smack in the face! I started eating poorly, quit working out, and sat on my butt watching way too much TV.
Since that time I’ve turned a lot of my habits around. I quit drinking soda (except for the occasional sip! I mean come on, you can’t eat pizza without soda!!), I got back on track with my healthier meals, and I started going to the gym 3-4 days a week. My workouts were mostly for burning off pent-up frustrations and acted as a great stress relief. I never really worked out with a purpose in mind.
But in this new year I have a new goal. To not only gain muscle and tone up… but to get back to that “on top of the world” feeling I had back in my early 20s. Because you see, working out isn’t supposed to be about beating yourself up in the gym and hating your reflection in the mirror. It’s supposed to make you feel accomplished and empowered.
In order to keep me on track and hold me accountable, I’ll be documenting my progress with weekly updates! I’m talking all the highs and all the lows. If I crushed a workout, you’ll know. If I skipped a whole week at the gym and ate 4 boxes of girl scout cookies, you’ll know. I hope you will join me and support me!
