The Adventures Of Sarah & Mila: Carver’s Creek State Park
Now that Spring is here, it’s time to lace up those hiking boots and get outdoors! I never go without my trusty sidekick and canine Mila! Most recently, we adventured in Carver’s Creek State Park in Spring Lake, NC.
Now I know you might be thinking – what is the point of hiking? You drive somewhere just to get out and walk? Is it really worth it? In a nutshell, YES! For me, hiking is good for the soul! It helps to reduce stress and completely clears my mind. When I’m out hiking, I can reconnect with nature and myself. I bring my cell phone along in case of emergencies and of course to take some pictures, but it is tucked away in my backpack and kept on silent. My body and mind get to naturally recharge when I’m out on a trail. It’s me, my dog Mila, and mother nature. That’s it. Hiking is one of the best forms of meditation I’ve been able to find. And bonus, there is hiking for everyone! You can choose trails for any difficulty level and any mood.
This past weekend Mila and I decided to escape to Carver’s Creek State Park. It makes for a great family outing with easy trails and scenic farm life views. The park was established in 2005 and is wonderful for bird enthusiasts. They also offer tours of the vacation home of James Stillman Rockefellar. Dogs are welcome but must stay on a leash.
As the weather gets warmer, more hiking trails will be busier with fellow hikers, but I encourage you and your family to get outdoors and adventure!
