Kick Butt Tip: Remember the Advice That Makes A Difference

Country singer George Birge told CountryNow.com that some advice he got from Blake Shelton changed his life. “One of the first things he ever said to me was, ‘Son, as long as you can make people feel something, you’re gonna be alright.’ And it just always stuck with me. It made sense to me because, at the end of the day, that’s what all this is about. It’s about making people feel something and providing an escape for people.”
You know, we both can look back and probably have one or more people to thank for sharing advice that impacted us in a very positive way. And since this happens to be the season of Christmas, the most thankful time of the year, why not say thank you?
I was honored and blessed to grow up around a very large group of positive thinking men in my family and in the church and community. I remember my dad saying Donald, you’ll never learn if you don’t try. And then if you don’t try, at some point you’ll regret not trying.
My grandfather was full of wisdom like, always work hard every day and that way you’re guaranteed to sleep better at night. He was right.
I consider myself very fortunate to have told my father, my grandfather and others how much they meant to me before going on to their heavenly reward. I miss those positive influences in my life more than words can say.
My friend, as I said earlier, it is the season to say thank you and to reflect on how dog on blessed we are. Let this be the year that you extend your hand of gratitude and tell the most important people in your life how much you appreciate them.
Merry Christmas!
